Oregonians can receive free efficient light bulbs
Oregon customers of Pacific Power
and Portland General Electric who heat their homes with oil, propane, kerosene, butane or
wood can receive 10 free compact fluorescent light bulbs from the Energy Trust of Oregon,
Inc.
The bulbs will be installed when homeowners or renters receive a free in-home energy
audit from the Oregon Department of Energy’s State Home Oil Weatherization
program.
The new program is a cooperative effort between the state of Oregon and Energy Trust of
Oregon, Inc. The compact fluorescents are a good addition to the SHOW Program, which has
been serving Oregonians since 1982, said Michael Grainey, director of the Oregon
Department of Energy.
Compact fluorescent bulbs last 5-7 times longer than incandescent bulbs and use a fraction of
the electricity, so they’re a great way to save energy, said Diane Ferington, Residential
Program Manager, Energy Trust. We’re pleased to be able to extend this program to a
broader range of customers.
