CPS Offering Compact Fluorescent Light Rebate

Now through the end of January, City Public Service customers can enjoy instant rebates on energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs at Lowe's or Home Depot stores in the San Antonio area.

The rebate offer gives customers $4 back on any qualifying compact fluorescent bulb through CPS' partnership with ENERGY STAR, a program backed by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.

ENERGY STAR-qualified lighting uses two-thirds less energy and lasts six to 10 times longer than incandescent lighting, said Matthew Haecker of CPS' Retail Energy Division. Compact fluorescent bulbs help protect the environment and can save you money on your energy bills.

Replacing a 100-watt incandescent with a 32-watt compact fluorescent light can save the consumer at least $30 in energy costs over the life of the bulb, according to the ENERGY STAR program that helps businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency.

Customers can find instant-rebate coupons in the lighting aisle of participating Lowe's and Home Depot stores throughout San Antonio. Up to two rebates, for a total savings of $8, can be redeemed at the checkout counter for any single transaction.
